Welcome to America, no more freedom unless you are dependent upon the government & do as the government wishes you to even if they violate your rights.

Besides the small camps here and there throughout the county, there are 2 huge camps that are getting bigger by the day.
1 is behind the juvenile hall close to railroad and the other is the goleta train depot next to 101, just south of Los carneros.
Then further up the tracks there is some good size camps between Winchester and Glen Annie.
Not even to touch on the camps off of gwyne drive in the creek area.
Accident waiting to happen.

Want to end up like San Jose, Oakland, Venice, and San Francisco? Real easy... keep chasing their policies.

Better get some more motel rooms ready. It is getting cold at night for the transients.

That is not surprising. The lives of the people who live in the camps revolve around drugs. Drugs are priority 1, and if a shelter doesn’t provide easy access to drugs then it’s not going to work. I wish our community was willing to take action to tackle the addiction problems these poor folks are suffering from, but I’m afraid it’s just not going to happen. I believe it is inhumane to continue to let these people suffer as they live in the bush chasing dangerous street drugs.

PATH recently had 100 beds that were not being used. Apparently, many homeless/houseless folks prefer their own campsite to a shelter. What if the City builds rooms but few want them? What then?
