Update by Santa Barbara Police Department
Sept. 13, 2021

On September 12, 2021, around 7:30pm, the Santa Barbara Police Combined Communications Center received a report from a resident who could see a subject trespassing on their property from a home surveillance system. The resident was out of town and providing live updates to police dispatchers while watching the subject on their cameras.

Numerous Officers responded to the residence located in the 1200 block of Shoreline Drive. The owner of the home was reporting the suspect had now entered the residence by breaking a rear window.  Officers arrived on scene and set a perimeter around the home. Officers also observed a White Dodge sedan parked in the driveway that did not belong to the homeowner. It was revealed, after checking the vehicle’s license plates, this sedan was recently stolen from the Santa Ynez area on September 11, 2021.

A reverse 9-1-1 notification was sent to the neighborhood requesting homeowners shelter in place and others to stay away from the area. Additional law enforcement support was needed to assist with the perimeter and traffic control in the area, and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office had several Deputies respond to this incident.

Officers could see the suspect, later identified as Trey Von Duus, a 21-year-old Buellton resident, now pacing around the interior of the home and changing into the homeowner’s clothing. Officers gave verbal commands through a police vehicle’s public address system, requesting Duus to surrender and exit the house. Duus could be seen looking out a window at Officers; he refused all verbal commands and appeared to be barricading himself in an upstairs bedroom.

Law Enforcement Officers were able to gain access to the home through the garage and gave more verbal commands for Duus to surrender. Again, he refused. Officers started a search inside the home and reached the upstairs bedroom where Duus was located. A Santa Barbara Police K-9 Officer deployed K-9 partner Murdoch. Duus resisted the K-9 and officers had to physically restrain him to effect the arrest.

Duus sustained minor injuries during the incident, and he was transported to Cottage Hospital for treatment and medical clearance.

Duus was then transported to Santa Barbara County Jail and booked for Burglary (felony), Vandalism (felony), Possession of a Stolen Vehicle (felony), and Resisting Arrest (misdemeanor). His bail is set at $50,000.

Mike Eliason is not a "Fire Captain". He is a public information officer also qualified as a fire fighter and he is very good at the job of keeping the public informed while actually out in the field.

Go on his social media, this crook isn't the acverage thug, the last name should be a clue. The report cites he resides in Buellton, but he states he lives in Santa Maria. But, that's not the point.
This guy comes from a well-to-do family that has done quite well for themselves in terms of Solvang political circles and Alan Hancock College academia.
Basically, good upbringing, good environment and this begs to ask the following question which is what went wrong? I also have to add, on his facebook page, he goes by "Princess" as a nickname.
Begs to ask the question once again, given family, upbringing and location, what could have possibly gone wrong? Thug life strikes again.

Likely Drugs & Alcohol. Also, maybe a sense of invincibility coming from a privileged family.

Interesting he broke into a wealthy neighborhood vs. a lower income home. This wasn't a typical crime of opportunity, he went in there looking for something high end.

This is heartbreaking. Trey was a really good kid in HS. Well liked, quiet, studious, in Band. Raised by his white Grandmother. He seemed depressed over the last several years and lost weight though he wasn't overweight. He must have had a mental break.

I hope they don't leave out this charge:

(2) Any person who willfully wears or uses any badge that falsely purports to be authorized for the use of one who by law is given the authority of an officer or member of a fire department, or a deputy state fire marshal, or which so resembles the authorized badge of an officer or member of a fire department, or a ...

I think, knowing there are "no police",
the crooks may realize that citizens will protect themselves.
That means: Judge, Jury & sentencing,
right where they stand.
Less of something else..anything..
& tons of money to anyone who can stand to put-up with US!

FONDOFSB, you can bet the "acab" and "ftp" crowd will soon be on here saying that what they mean by "defund the police" is to direct more of the police budget toward a more of a "social welfare" direction.
The amusing thing is those saying this also go by the designation of "abolitionist" and want to abolish law enforcement in any way possible. Basically, in a nutshell, that movement is a hypocritical farce.

NOSTRACHUMASH, those in favor of defunding or abolishing police would call what you just described as vigilante, but describe what criminals do as a product of being a victim and therein lies the problem.
Criminals have been painted as victims and have become a protected species, while the real victims of crimes have to wish and hope the judicial system will help them. It's where we are.

This is heartbreaking. Trey was a really good kid. A model student, in band. One of the only black students at SYHS raised by his white grandmother. After trump was elected and racism became more open, he changed. He looked so depressed during that time, and lost weight. He must have had a complete mental break to do something like this. It's heartbreaking. My prayers go out to him.

So this is Trump's fault too? At some point, people and society in general really need to take some personal responsibility for the crap they do! Quit deflecting. I'm seriously so tired of hearing about Trump already.

Yes it is his fault. He unleashed a lot of hatred and bigotry in this country that hurt a lot of people and damaged our lives - mine included. It's high time his supporters own up to it and quit trying to whitewash it. I'm sick and tired of your peoples brazen denials, deflections and attempts to gaslight the public. Those of us with more than half a brain can see and hear it loud and clear.
