Traffic Collision on Carrillo and Miramonte

That’s a tricky intersection. It’s sometimes hard to judge how fast people are going up and down Carrillo, and some people go very fast, others not so much.

It certainly is not like most other intersections in town. For one, there are no signals at this intersection. Drivers on Miramonte must creep out several feet to get a "looksie" to the left, while double-checking vehicles flying over the crest of the hill. Once in this precarious position, drivers must "commit" to crossing to the far lane, so there little room for error. Not to mention that the driver's coming up the hill have two speeds: very slow or very fast. Not too much worry for the slow traffic, but I've driven up that road a thousand times well over the speed limit, and I still have had drivers coming up my backside....or "pushing the gopher" as my father would say. I've been involved in a number of driving mishaps over the years - nothing super serious, except a roll-over when I was teen w/12 pack of 11-ounce Lucky Lagers w the "puzzle" on the underside of the bottle cap), but every time it was not my fault. Be careful out there folks, and for goodness sake: Slow Down!!!

I’m not making excuses. Just saying it’s tricky, you need to have good judgement and a car that responds when you step on the gas. That’s true of a lot of intersections, while others are easier.

It is stupid if you are driving and you have bad judgment. Stay off the road
