Shots Heard in Goleta on Sunday night

a car drives around walnut area that backfires real loud. they think it's cool.

Though, many years ago we heard what we assumed were fireworks (we had neighbor kids who liked to set them off), so we didn't think anything of it, until a couple of days later, a sheriff came to our door and asked if we knew anything about the shooting that had taken place on our street. All I could tell him was that we thought it was fireworks!

Rightfully so, everyone is on edge in this neighborhood, but a lot of people think fireworks sound like gunshots and they don't know the difference. I didn't hear anything on the scanner, but this person also didn't post a time. Was it 7pm or 3am? Who knows.

Probably wasn't reported because it was probably a non-story. Most likely police didn't find anything and went back into service, and it also could have been firecrackers.
