I just felt like I could not do them anymore alot of stress going in your head with no outlet listening to some of those calls. I don't even want to imagine how it must be for responders who are out there on the front lines of everything going on with hardly a break. You have to take breaks....

It's good that you recognize you need a break. I'm guessing breaks for first responders begin at the end of their shift until the beginning of the next. Many will try to forget what they handled during their last shift knowing there could be more of the same coming up. A shooting here, a stabbing there, someone's limb torn apart during an accident, a family in distress and on and on. The daily verbal bashing on the street and in the media. I've read where many say it's part of the job, which it is. But, even after taking extended breaks how does all of this and more, year after year, not have a negative impact? I believe it was recently reported our city has made counseling available. This is a good step forward but I thought it was already available. Take the time you need, relax and you'll return to do a better job. An old Jewish saying: Graveyards are full of irreplaceable people.

Big R... now get it...of course you need a break. Shoot..I know how I am affected by events and how my mind is also affected by the endless going ons just from checking in on social media etc. There is such a lot of hate, sadness and distress out there. I know I could not listen to the scanners 24/7 and still be a functioning person. I do hope that you are feeling lighter and finding some sense of clam, peace and maybe..hopefully, possibly, happiness. Finding joy in the small things. xoxo
