The city of Santa Barbara is processing two street renaming proposals, came in at the same time coincidentally. Details below.

Barbareno Chumash Tribal Council wants to change Indio Muerto to Hutash, which means Mother Earth.

The second application aims to honor Dolores Huerta by renaming San Andres to Calle Dolores Huerta.

The Neighborhood Advisory Council will make recommendations to City Council.

Oh, okay 5:36 PM, lets keep APS. I still don’t want to change get San Andrés, even if the man wasn’t a “true” saint. Let’s find a park or some other good place to honor Dolores Huerta.

I am curious since you know a lot about Serra. Did he also rape boys during his time at the SB Mission as so many of his disciples have over the decades since?

This is a horrible idea, will be a big hardship to the people in the neighborhood, and is pandering to the emotionality of the moment.

Get did of Indio Muerto if you must and think of it as a successful compromise.

Survey Monkey captures and uses data from its participants. It should never be used by public agencies who we hope will protect the privacy of the people.

Goleta employee unions don't yet have the entrenched history like they do in Santa Barbara. Give it a few more years and you city employee unions will own you too, Goleta.

Out here , government listens to constituents. And if they don't, the representatives don't get reelected, refreshingly different. It's more work, but it doesn't take more time.

I've spoken to other residents and they are for it. They've obeyed sign laws and haven't posted any illegal signage about it, but feel strongly about it. But thanks for the suggestion to change our names, we will consider it seriously.

I’ve spoken to some residents and they don’t want it. They’ve even posted signs around the neighborhood that say NO. If you want to change a name, change your own name.
