Missing At-Risk Juvenile

Missing for 2 weeks now? How sad and horrifying for the parents. Why wasn't the public alerted sooner?

Probably because she is a runaway... gone by choice, which happens often.

That is policy. Must wait a certain number of days for someone to be considered a "missing person." Before and after that, it depends, somewhat, on the person taking the report, how they react to living situation and history of missing person. I too got this report via Nixle today. Hope she's okay.

I mean, I wish her the best, runaway or not. I too ran away around age 15.

9:53pm nope, that is a complete myth that Hollywood has convinced people is true. A missing person's report can be filed at any time as long as you believe the person is missing. There is no 24/72/whatever hour waiting period. If you are trying to file a missing person's report and a police officer tries to feed you this lie, stand your ground and insist - they are legally required to take a report when a citizen believes a crime has been committed or a person is in imminent danger (missing).
