“Silly to assume”? No assumptions were made. I was there when the dog owner called Fire Department from Shoreline Park. It was high tide; There was no beach, just a foot of rocks at most, and the tide was coming in further. And yes, dog climbed under the fence.

That entire beach is off-leash. Silly to assume the dog came from up top/the park. ----------Too bad no authorities came along on Wednesday to ticket the two young women sitting on wrong side of fence, right at bluff's edge, not far from 1,000 steps. Those two women were definitely Darwin candidates.

Owner needs to pay for cost of assistance to off-leash dog if it's not an off-leash park. Money or work it off.

I’ve seen dogs tear down what look like unnavigable cliffs at Wilcox and make their way right back up. I wonder how the dog would have fared had it been left to its own devices.

While l am very happy that the dog was rescued, it appears the owner was irresponsible. It took a harbor patrol boat and two firemen, one on the what was there of the beach and one on the cliff. The tide was high, almost to 6 feet, so virtually no beach. The dog must have been off leash, ran under the fence and down the cliff. What a waste of City resources because of a careless pet owner. She should be cited.
