Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office reports the mountain was safely captured from a resident's backyard in Orcutt with help from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies ask residents to shelter inside as they attempt to contain a mountain lion in Orcutt.

At 5:00 p.m. the Sheriff's Office issued a warning to residents in the 4300 block of Coachman Way to stay inside their homes.

Deputies are joining the Department of Fish and Wildlife to safely capture a mountain lion in the area.

Mountain Lion Captured in Orcutt Backyard

Yeah, I wonder what they will do with it. They don't like to relocate them very far from where they are captured in case they are putting into conflict with the territory of an existing cat. Sometimes the ones in residential neighborhoods are sick from rodenticides and that's why they are there. We don't really make space for other predators in our world.
