Valley Furniture, a longtime furniture retailer, is preparing to close its doors after serving Sonoma County for more than three decades.
Located at 380 Rohnert Park Expressway in Sonoma County, Valley Furniture announced a stock clearance sale in a social media post on March 17, 2026.
Stating that the shop will clear out its warehouse ahead of closing its operations, Valley Furniture announced that sofas, beds, and dining sets were available at up to 50% discounted prices.
The store did not announce an official closing date.
Valley Furniture owner Larry Phan sold the store building and the adjoining shop to an affiliate of Dallas-based Identity Capital, according to The Press Democrat report.
The inventory’s sale is likely to take at least three months, according to The Press Democrat.
Phan, who has operated the business for decades, said he planned to sell as he prepares to retire, the report added. His children do not intend to take over the business, prompting him to move forward with the sale.
Locally owned, Valley Furniture opened its first store in 1988, expanding to Sonoma County and opening the Rohnert Park showroom in 1993, according to its Yelp page.
Spanning 70,000 sq. ft. of furniture displays, the Rohnert Park store offers all kinds of furniture, including dining tables, sofa sets, beds, office sets, mattresses, entertainment centers, and more. The store specializes in furniture collections ranging from antique to modern as well as traditional sets.
Valley Furniture is expected to be replaced by arts and crafts giant, Hobby Lobby.
The Oklahoma City-based company applied for permits in November 2025 to convert the expansive furniture showroom into one of its new California locations.
With more than 1,000 stores across the U.S., the Rohnert Park location would be among Hobby Lobby’s newest in California. The retailer opened a 45,000-square-foot store in Montebello in February 2026, its 69th location in the state, according to its website.
Hobby Lobby was originally started by David and Barbara Green in 1970, when the couple began making miniature picture frames out of their home. The success of the venture led to the couple opening a 300 sq. ft. store in Oklahoma City two years later.
The company offers more than 80,000 crafting and home decor items, including art supplies, craft supplies, tableware, yarn, fabric, hobbies, jewelry making, party supplies, and more.
Currently, the venture is among the largest privately-owned arts and crafts retailers, operating in 48 states, according to its website.
