Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation (TBCF) is proud to welcome Julia George as its new Sr. Development Director, following a ten-month search to find the ideal candidate to help lead the organization into its next chapter of expansion.

Julia brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record in nonprofit development. She comes to TBCF after serving locally as Director of Development at Congregation B’nai B’rith. She previously held leadership roles at RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) Penn State University, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Julia is also a community volunteer and currently serves on the board of the Peabody Charter School Foundation and Santa Barbara Ice Hawks.

Her arrival at TBCF comes at an exciting time as the organization celebrates the recent purchase of its new permanent home, located next to Cottage Hospital, which will serve as the central coast’s first pediatric cancer resource and support center.

“We are thrilled to welcome Julia to our leadership team,” shared Brittany Avila Wazny, executive director, “Her philosophy and approach to nonprofit work reflect our mission, making her a perfect fit. Her experience and passion for our mission will be invaluable as we provide support to more families than ever before.”

Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation advocates for families of children battling cancer living in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties by providing financial, emotional and educational support.
