    Santa Barbara Symphony Volunteer Receives ‘MVP’ Award at Annual Conference

    Mary Jane Cooper, a longtime Santa Barbara Symphony volunteer, was honored with a Most Valuable Player Award at a luncheon held today as part of the Association of California Symphony Orchestras’ (ACSO) annual conference in Los Angeles. Ms. Cooper was recognized for her outstanding efforts on behalf of the Music Van, the Santa Barbara Symphony’s award-winning outreach program for area children.

    Michele Jackman Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

    Local counselor, trainer, and civic leader Michele Jackman MSW, MA was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Legion Auxiliary’s 74thGirls’ State Youth in Government program at held at Claremont Colleges. In addition, Jackman delivered the conference’s keynote address to over 500 girls nominated for the Girls’ State Youth in Government program from California’s high schools.

    Count Basie Orchestra & Jazz Icon Paula Cole Kick Off Fundraiser For Rona Barrett Foundation

    Over five hundred jazz aficionados filled Santa Barbara’s historic Lobero Theatre this past weekend to celebrate one of America’s most honored jazz ensembles and to launch the fundraising campaign of the Rona Barrett Foundation’s new "Harry's House at the Golden Inn & Village" - A Home for Alzheimer's and Assisted Living at The Golden Inn & Village.   The compassionate campus is already acknowledged as a new paradigm for treatment of Alzheimer’s and respectful care of indigent seniors.
