Santa Barbara City College announces new Vice President of Business Services
Santa Barbara City College announced its selection of Lyndsay Maas as Vice President of Business Services. A proud SBCC alum, Maas has been employed with the college since 2013, where she served as Controller, and most recently, Interim Vice President of Business Services. In her official appointment, Maas will oversee management of campus Fiscal Services, Security, Campus Store, Food Services, Administrative Services, and Facilities departments.
“Santa Barbara has been my home for the past 20 years,” said Maas. “ It was at SBCC where I took my first accounting and business courses and was inspired by my Instructors to become an accountant. Thanks to SBCC I made accounting my career and continued my education to earn my Masters in Business Administration. Since joining the team at SBCC as Controller, I have become a huge proponent of the California Community College educational system and the mission SBCC fills within our community. I am honored to have been selected as the first female Vice President of Business Services at SBCC, where I will work tirelessly to serve our students and community.”
In her prior position as Controller at SBCC, Maas reported directly to the Vice President of Business Services as the college’s top managerial and financial accountant. Her responsibilities included managing college’s Fiscal Services department, comprised of Accounting, Student Finance, and Payroll.
Educationally, Maas began her academic career as a UCSB student in 1997, where she attended school for two years. She then attended SBCC and continued to pursue her education in accounting and business. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management at Antioch University, Santa Barbara, in 2004, and a Master of Business Administration at California State University Channel Islands in 2006.
“Lyndsay brings a great range of experience and is an excellent presenter and educator,” said SBCC Superintendent/President Anthony Beebe. “She has been a constant and generous source of clear information, is a team player, and is continuously trying to figure out new ways to best serve Business Services customers at the college and our students.”
Maas’ career highlights also include U.S. Corporate Controller/Treasurer at Imerys Filtration Minerals, Inc. in Lompoc; and Operations Analyst at Santa Barbara Alpha Strategies.
In her spare time Maas volunteers with the Adult Volunteer Soccer League (AVSL), where she integrated a website, payment registration and management system, and social media for the league. Her volunteer involvement has been crucial to the organization’s growth from four small teams to eight large teams.
