Agree that the district likely has much more money than they're offering. Although I can't get on board with the health insurance piece. If a company is offering a benefit package with health insurance and the employee chooses not to take it, how is that the company's fault?

RE: health insurance coverage... ALL health insurance is insanely expensive. Any private company that offers to pay 75% of health insurance is quite generous. The real issue with health insurance comes down to federal regulations so it's affordable for all. But in the meantime, the district is offering a cost savings there.

Good for you; WillBridge & CC are good hariteis, as is Unity Shoppe. I appreciate the shopping choices Unity provides. Seems more important to me than a turkey. (I'm a monthly and more donor to Food Bank)

Did you read the article past the headline? These numbers are parsed out and defined in the text. While I agree teachers should be fairly compensated, it appears the district's proposal isn't too far off from what the teachers union recently proposed.

I've had 4 kids through our school system. There are a handful of teachers and staff that I am EXTREMELY grateful for and have shown it. I also have family and friends who are teachers. I know how hard they work and care. I believe education is one of the most important things we have to share. Hey, get your degree and your teacher's degree, and let's make some money, if you love kids and making a difference. I have a degree and don't make close to what someone my age teaching makes! I work 300- 330 days a year... I don't get the insurance, which is way better! I pay the same and get zero benefits unless I use over 10,000. I get no pension, yet paying for it... When I increase my rates, don't bitch because it's not even close to 12% and I'm having to eat the other 20% to get the job and maybe pay the bills. So, go to school kids, but get a government job. We got you.
