A vegetation fire that was reported in the Phelan area of San Bernardino County burned 11 acres before firefighters stopped its spread.
The Nevada Fire was reported at around 2:13 p.m. on May 31, near the intersection of Nevada Road and Solano Road in Phelan, according to CAL Fire.
According to initial reports, an outbuilding had caught fire, causing the blaze to spread into nearby vegetation, CAL Fire shared in a post on social media.
At the time of the early update, the fire had burned roughly 2 acres and was spreading at a slow pace, according to the fire department.
Fire crews responded to the scene and rushed to contain the blaze as it spread into nearby vegetation. As firefighting efforts continued, CAL Fire reported that the fire had spread to 5 acres.

Fire officials requested three ambulances for three civilians at the scene of the fire.
Later, CAL Fire shared that all three civilians were medically evaluated for smoke-related injuries. However, no information was available about the severity of the injuries.
There is no information on any firefighter sustaining injuries.
Later that day, firefighters worked to stop the fire’s forward spread, preventing it from charring more vegetation and spreading further.
The Nevada Fire had scorched a total of 11 acres.
In a status update issued at 9:39 p.m., CAL Fire said crews would continue mop-up operations and work to extinguish any remaining hotspots and embers in the burn area. These efforts are carried out to reduce the risk of flare-ups and ensure that the fire is completely under control.
CAL Fire did not share information on whether the fire had reached 100% containment.
No incident management team was assigned to the incident.
The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
Authorities have not shared any information on how the fire started.
The Nevada Fire comes as firefighters across California continue responding to several vegetation fires during the summer fire season. While the Nevada Fire was quickly contained at 11 acres, crews have been battling fires of larger scales in other parts of the state.
One of the significant fires in recent weeks has been the Santa Rosa Island Fire off the Santa Barbara coast. The wildfire has scorched 18,379 acres on the island, and was 97% contained as of late May.
The fire is the largest wildfire ever recorded in any of California’s Channel Islands.
Although the Nevada Fire is considerably smaller in scale than the Santa Rosa Island Fire, it serves as a reminder of fire hazards and that fires can develop and spread quickly in dry vegetation.
