    Nature Photography Made Easy

    The Land Trust welcomes Andreina Diaz, Eye See Santa Barbara, for a sunset photography workshop and tour of the Rincon Bluffs Preserve. Come visit, discover, and photograph these beautiful bluffs, the Land Trust's most recent land conservation in Carpinteria.

    Taking successful pictures at dusk can be difficult! We will walk the 2-mile Rincon Bluffs loop while learning photography tips that will help you capture the best visual seascapes of our coastline at dusk, including general composition, use of flash, and proper exposure.

    All photographic skill levels welcome.

    Arroyo Hondo Preserve has a very impressive list of native plants that are beautiful year round. Discover a huge diversity of flowering plants, from tall trees to spreading shrubs and tiny annuals, with botanist and Land Trust Arroyo Hondo Education Coordinator, Sally Isaacson.

    Participants are welcome to bring their cameras and binoculars as well as a picnic lunch to eat at the picnic area by the creek after the walk. Please wear strong shoes and long pants. Bring a hat, water, and sunscreen.

    Come check out the varieties found at Arroyo Hondo Preserve on the Gaviota Coast. We will spend the morning hunting for mushrooms with Dr. Bob Cummings, the foremost fungi expert for our county. Dr. Cummings is a Professor of Biology at Santa Barbara City College. He is a wonderful teacher and to walk with him in nature is always a delight.

    Join the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County and talented teacher Dr. Sam Sweet for a second outing in search of the many reptiles of our canyon at the 782-acre Arroyo Hondo Preserve along the Gaviota Coast. Arroyo Hondo is home to an impressive diversity of species including ringnecked snakes, two different kingsnakes, and a variety of other snakes and lizards. We will also search for the western pond turtle in the riparian area.
