Santa Barbara Music Club Scholarship Showcase Concert I
For several decades, the Santa Barbara Music Club Scholarships have provided support to deserving instrumental and vocal music students from Santa Barbara County. The scholarships are made possible by the generosity of our donors who wish to provide aid and encouragement to outstanding music students from local schools and teaching studios that show promise of becoming our future soloists, orchestral musicians, opera singers, and other music professionals. Success stories from past scholarship recipients testify to the positive effects of this scholarship program.

Steven Gross, French horn, Pascal Salomon, piano, plus the Maurice Faulkner Brass Trio, Horn Ensemble, trumpet, and trombone, will present a concert featuring delightful works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Reinhold Glière, James Naigus, Václav Nelhybel, Francis Poulenc, Camille Saint-Saëns, Robert Schumann, and Lowell Shaw.

Santa Barbara Music Club Fall 2021 Opening Concert
On Saturday, November 13 at 3 p.m. the Santa Barbara Music Club, in collaboration with the American Guild of Organists, will present its first program since February 2020. Organists Raymond Egan, Adán Fernández and Thomas Joyce will present a program including works by J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Maurice Duruflé, Florence Price, and Raymond Egan. This concert will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1500 State Street, Santa Barbara. Admission is free.

Dear Music Club Concert Goers:
We had great plans for our 50th Anniversary season. Our performing members outdid themselves in submitting proposals for challenging and unusual works, including many by the excellent living composers in our community. Our Concert Committee did a stellar job of curating the programs. By all indications, this was to be our best season yet.

On Saturday, March 21 at 3 p.m., the Santa Barbara Music Club will present another program in its popular series of concerts of beautiful Classical music. Soprano Carolyn Kimball Holmquist, flutist Kirsten Becker, and pianist Eric Valinsky will feature vocal works by J.S. Bach, Franz Schubert, Frank Martin, George Gershwin, and Claude Bolling. Marian Drandell Gilbert concludes the program with solo piano music by Claude Debussy, Franz Liszt, and Sergei Prokofiev.
Santa Barbara Music Club 50th Season of Free Concerts
On Saturday, March 7 at 3 p.m. the Santa Barbara Music Club will present another program in its popular series of concerts of beautiful Classical music. Pianist Paolo Tatafiore highlights the reaches of piano technique and expression with Après une lecture de Dante: Fantasia quasi sonata, affectionately known as the “Dante Sonata” by Franz Liszt, as well as selections of Rachmaninoff’s preludes. This concert, co-sponsored by the Santa Barbara Public Library, will be held at the Faulkner Gallery of the library, 40 East Anapamu, Santa Barbara. Admission is free.

On Saturday, February 22 at 3 p.m. the Santa Barbara Music Club will present another program in its popular series of concerts of beautiful Classical music. The first portion of this afternoon’s program features an ensemble cast of performers: flutist Sherylle Englander, clarinetist Per Elmfors, horn player Johann Trujillo, and harpist Laurie Rasmussen. They will perform the well-known Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune by Claude Debussy, Livewire! by American composer Christopher Lowry, and French composer and horn player Georges Barboteu’s Esquisse.
