Knox School Reopening September 14
Readers Theatre Virtual Summer Camp
Each day for the first thirty minutes, the class will start with fun theater and improv games to warm up our bodies and “theatrical minds”, followed by a different script each day. Campers will analyze their characters, practice their lines, and virtually perform with their Readers Theater Troop.

STEAM Makerspace Virtual Summer Camp
This camp will be focused on different maker activities culminating with a final day playing and sharing on Roblox (or computer coding if campers/parents do not have or want a Roblox account). The children will be creating and sharing all of these projects remotely with one another. They will be making and tinkering with multiple iterations based on what they learn from their peers as well as their own prototypes.

Chemistry in the Kitchen Virtual Summer Camp
This virtual summer camp is designed to help campers gain confidence in the kitchen as well as learn what food science is all about. Campers will use math and reading skills in learning how to interpret and mise en place a recipe. Students will complete the menus and be empowered to make smart decisions regarding delicious food choices.
NEW JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN ANNOUNCED FOR FALL 2020
The Knox School of Santa Barbara’s Kindergarten program will be expanding to add a Junior Kindergarten this Fall for the 2020/2021 school year. This extended program welcomes formally identified high IQ learners who will be as young as age four this Fall and boasts an inquiry-based and Reggio Emilia play-based gifted curriculum. Applications are now being accepted.

Gifted Girls Symposium
The Mystery of the Disappearing Gifted Girls
Parents & teachers are invited to hear Gifted Education Expert Dr. Linda Kreger Silverman address this crisis & the unique social-emotional & academic needs of our gifted girls.
What is the crisis with the gifted girl population? Girls with High IQs make themselves invisible, hiding their intelligence, typically by 2nd grade. This makes it difficult to identify them and therefore difficult to appropriately support them academically, socially, and emotionally.
Santa Barbara Independent Schools Information Night
There will be 9 schools in attendance representing Jr. Kindergarten through 12th grade, including Anacapa School, Crane Country Day School, Garden Street Academy, Laguna Blanca School, Marymount of Santa Barbara, Montessori Center School, Providence School, Santa Barbara Middle School, & The Knox School of Santa Barbara.
Together, these schools awarded over $6.5M in financial assistance to over 650 students this year!

Knox School Free Pre-Testing Day
Is your gifted child ready for more? If you’re curious whether your child qualifies to apply to The Knox School of Santa Barbara, join us on our Pre-Testing Day. Your child can take our pre-test evaluation conducted by experts in giftedness for free. Testing takes approximately an hour. During the group testing, parents are asked to stay and fill out an observation form on their child. Depending on the results, parents can use the scores for application to The Knox School or the school will recommend further testing.
