Celebrate National Dog Day at Rosewood Miramar Beach this year! In partnership with local shelters Apollo’s ARC, Spark Rescue Santa Barbara, and Aussie Rescue Networking Group, the team at Miramar are hosting its first annual dog adoption on August 26th on the Great Lawn from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The community is invited for a doggone day of fun featuring dog adoptions and donations, pet-friendly activities, competitions, and “Yappy Hour” for guests and furry friends alike!
Brass, winds, percussion, oh my! Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, an American standard, and it’s updated response, Joan Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman is the perfect way to spotlight our talented symphony brass section. In this All-American program, members of the Symphony will also perform another Copland’s setting of Old American Songs, as well as a brand new work by young composer George Gianopoulos, featuring Award-winning, bass-baritone Cedric Berry!
The Santa Barbara Zoo will be spending everyday during the month of April celebrating some amazing Zooper Heroes both animal and human. Starting on March 29th, come to the Zoo to find out more about impressive animal adaptations and the heroic efforts being made by the Zoo’s conservation team. We encourage visitors to come dressed as their favorite super hero. The Zoo will be open regular operating hours in line with the modified and approved COVID-19 safety measures, including limited capacity. This event is free with Zoo admission and will continue throughout the month of April.
The Santa Barbara Symphony celebrates Beethoven’s 250th birthday with “Beethoven @ 250,” a unique chamber music performance of some of the most beloved works by the composer as well as some newly created arrangements of Beethoven classics. This performance will be recorded live on stage from the Music Academy of the West and delivered straight to audiences through the Symphony’s new digital streaming format on Saturday, November 21, Sunday, Nov 22 and then available on-demand for ticket holders.
