West Coast Blues All-Stars
The Santa Barbara Blues Society welcomes the West Coast Blues All-Stars on Saturday September 23 at the Carrillo Recreation Center, 100 E. Carrillo St. Doors open at 7:00pm, music begins at 7:15pm.
Coco Montoya
A Blues Music Award winner, contemporary guitar master, and future legend, Coco Montoya will give a top notch performance, ranging from subtle melodies to scorching blues rock. He’s been a pro blues musician all his life, having learned his trade from Albert Collins and also toured with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers for ten years before going solo. John Primer/Bob Corritore Blues Band
John Primer, former guitarist in the bands of legendary bluesmen Muddy Waters and Magic Slim, has won two Blues Music Awards given by the Blues Foundation and has garnered two Grammy nominations. He is known not only for his tasteful lead guitar licks, but also for his slide guitar technique.
Santa Barbara Blues Society Benefit Show at Community Arts Workshop
In May 2022, the Santa Barbara community lost two outstanding musicians, Byl Carruthers of Cafe R&B and Tom Murray of Stiff Pickle Orchestra. Their absence will be a major loss to the local cultural scene. All of the proceeds of this event will go to benefit their families.
Music for this show will be provided by three excellent local bands that the Santa Barbara Blues Society sponsored at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN: Paradise Kings, East Valley Road, and Rent Party Blues Band.
PRAYER AND WELL-BEING: A Spiritual Adventure
This talk is a wellspring of inspiration and love for everyone! It explores how prayer, as explained in Christian Science, can bring healing in the face of loss. Fears about contagion and disease will also be addressed. This presentation will be followed by open Q&A. You are welcome to come with questions.
