The new Lobero Theatre Chamber Music Project presents two concerts in one weekend featuring top international performers and ambitious musical selections. This is a new collaboration with Maestro Heiichiro Ohyama who hand-picked the players and curated the programs. Also a celebrated violist, Ohyama performs in the two concerts, which have completely different programs. The first concert is Saturday, February 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Santa Barbara's Lobero Theatre.
The legacy of Johnny Cash lives on with the help of singer-guitarist Danny Millsap and the Hennessy Three—together forming The Only Johnny Cash Tribute Band. Millsap credits a 1990 Cash concert in Fresno as a formative moment, sparking a lifelong goal to keep the music and mystery of The Man in Black alive. With his Cash tribute, he’s performed all over Northern California and the Central Valley, Oregon and Arizona, breathing new life into the legendary ballads of the somber singer-songwriter. Few American pianists are as accomplished as the masterful Emanuel Ax. Between 1986 and 1996, Ax was awarded five Grammy® Awards for Best Chamber Music Performance for his collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, Jaime Laredo, Isaac Stern and Richard Stoltzman. Additionally, Ax has twice been recognized for his solo work, winning the Grammy® Award for Best Instrumental Soloist Performance (without orchestra) in 1995 and 2004.

Blind Pilot, which consists of Israel Nebeker, Ryan Dobrowski, Kati Claborn, Dave Jorgensen, Ian Krist and Luke Ydstie, was formed in Portland, Oregon in 2007 when songwriter Israel Nebeker and co-founding member Ryan Dobrowski went on a west coast tour via bicycle. Twelve years later, Blind Pilot has released three studio albums, 3 Rounds And A Sound (2008), We Are The Tide (2011) and And Then Like Lions (2016) and has sold out concerts throughout the U.S., Europe and the UK.
The tenor giant brings together a fellowship of his favorite musical partners, including guitar luminary Bill Frisell, and master slide guitarist Greg Leisz alongside Eric Harland on drums and Reuben Rogers on bass for a very special performance.
Lloyd’s supreme improvisational talents and passion for cross-pollinating jazz is alive and well with The Marvels. This exciting collaboration highlights the guitar wizardry of Bill Frisell and slide guitarist Greg Leisz. Their recent release, I Long to See You has been met with wide critical praise.
