Figueroa Mountain Project and Administrative Sites Pile Burning Starting This Week, Scheduled Through Spring
The U.S. Forest Service has scheduled a series of prescribed pile burns at Figueroa Mountain and various administrative sites on forest lands to occur when conditions allow this winter and into the spring.
The Spaulding/Midland prescribed burn just north of Los Olivos will continue tomorrow, if conditions allow, as a follow-up burn to a successful effort in November.
Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District issued an Air Quality Alert for eastern Santa Barbara County, including the Cuyama area, to be in effect until conditions improve.
The Air Pollution Control District encourages residents to create a "clean air room" to protect against wildfire smoke and ash.
The Los Padres National Forest has tentatively scheduled a prescribed burn at Figueroa Mountain and various administrative sites on forest lands with a burn window of February 16 through April 30.

Free electric car show at California Lemon Festival
The latest electric vehicles will be on view September 17 as part of a celebration of National Drive Electric Week put on by the Community Environmental Council (CEC),partnering with the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District and Los Padres Chapter Sierra Club. The partners encourage all to attend to check out the latest models and find out about tax credits and rebates for buying electric.
