PUBLIC WORKSHOPS FOR THE COUNTY’S COASTAL RESILIENCY PROJECT
The first of several public workshops is scheduled for Thursday, August 31 in Carpinteria to discuss potential impacts to the County’s coastline from sea level rise.
More workshops will be held in the Goleta and Gaviota areas in September. The Long Range Planning Division of the County Planning & Development Department is hosting the workshops.
The County has modeled and mapped coastal hazards from sea level rise through the grant-funded Coastal Resiliency Project. Analysis of coastal hazards and their potential impacts to important assets along the coastline is included in the County’s “Sea Level Rise and Coastal Hazards Vulnerability Assessment.” County staff will present the results of the Vulnerability Assessment and discuss possible adaptation measures and strategies to minimize future impacts from sea level rise. The Assessment can be accessed at http://bit.ly/2wl91Mf.
