It's not in town - only online, but I third Vista Print. I've had nothing but good experiences with them.

Vista Print products usually are from out of the USA - look carefully when the packages arrive. How about supporting our hometown populace?

I visited a local print shop last week for a job. No sense of product knowledge. There was a big scuffle about change for $20 bill and it was late in the day. I love personal service. But sometimes Santa Barbara's laidback attempts are merely lazy.

Wilson Printing in Goleta. I think they have business card specials all the time. They have the best quality of all the print shops in town and are reasonably priced. Beware of Boone Printing, rip-off artist. At least that was my experience.

I'm a local designer. I think Vista Print is great, but for a few dollars more, I prefer to send jobs to local shops and recommend my clients do the same. What goes around comes around, especially if you're trying to promote your own business in town. My top local picks: The Alternative - 963-7731 1511 Chapala St., SB Graphic Traffic - 965-2372 622 Olive Street St., SB Wilson Printing - 964-8875 5777 Hollister Ave, Goleta Bill's Copy Shop - 564-4353 1536 State St., SB

Business cards? QUICK & PRACTICAL Can't walk-in customers simply buy "While-You-Wait" or "Print-Your-Own" at Kinko's or Office Max? That would be a ready answer for immediate, to-your-own-taste, business cards. :-) LESS EXPENSIVE Black and White, Standard Format 1000 cards at Office Max [BTW, Vista Print may say "Free" 250 cards, but there is postage to pay and, almost typically in my own experience, there is something "a little off" about the spacings or fonts or whatever from inflexible online format requirements.] == VARIATIONS ON CARDS REPRESENTING YOU! WANT VERY INEXPENSIVE, VERY QUICK CARDS? Suggestion: If a business card is to represent a really thrifty you, you can always save by crossing out someone else's one-side printed card and pencil or ballpoint printing your own! Uniquer (sic) without Spellcheck. Print over the crossed-out or ingeniously invert and print on the unused back. :-) == QUALITY, DAMN THE EXPENSE, UPPER-U YOU CARDS? On the other hand, if you are a you that different from that you, you might seek a graphic artist with taste similar to your own you-taste. You want that person to do for you some appropriate-to-you business cards! A YOU CARD that may be in t... [ more ]

I know most of these posts are anonymous so hard to know exactly who I am talking to but... I'm Andrew Ochsner, owner of Boone Graphics. To the person calling myself and my employees "rip-off artists", I would love to know why you say that. My staff and I personally take a lot of pride in being at work everyday and keeping a close eye on the service, quality and the overall experience my clients get from Boone Graphics. I can not recall the last time we had a client leave our building unhappy. If someone is, I'll do whatever necessary to correct that problem - immediately. We charge fair prices, maybe not as cheap as some of my competitors on certain jobs, but prices that cover costs, allow us to pay our employees well and give back to nonprofits every month. (To be honest, I have a hard time saying no!) So I say to this person, call me directly at 683-2349, let me know the problem. Or let me know if you simply think we charge too much. I would welcome the good conversation! To the rest of the Edhat community, please be careful what is posted anonymously online. I personally NEVER post a potentially damaging review (particularly one accusing another of being a rip-off artist) without facts to back it up and taking ownership of it with my name. To the person in need of 250 business cards, a lot of good companies in town to choose from, good luck!
