SBFD Haz Mat Training
updated: Sep 11, 2012, 11:14 AM

By the Urban Hikers

On Monday the SBFD was practicing their emergency response training for incidents involving hazardous materials. Disclaimer: We realize that firefighters who respond to situations involving hazardous substances face dangerous and potentially life threatening work...but these photos of their training day are just so...comical. It almost seems like these figures should be in a flip book...suiting up, into the dwelling they go, rinsy- rinse, scrubby bubbles and then a little rest...or de-suiting. Once the marshmallow man suit is gone we can appreciate the seriousness of the situation, and catch a glimpse of all the protective gear the firefighters must utilize to stay safe in their work. Thanks SBFD for the work that you do, and sorry if at least one of the UH thought this looked more like a dress rehearsal for Halloween than the serious and necessary work that it is.
