To be completely honest and blunt, you don't really want a rec from a website. You want a referral from a real doctor. People here could be shilling for a doctor who isn't any good or have all sorts of subjective and unrelated opinions to what you need. If you need a medical opinion get a referral from a good gynecologist or GP first. Even if you're not being treated by a doctor currently, you can call your most recent or most liked doctor's office and ask them who they recommend. What you will get here is really risky and I wouldn't advise picking a medical professional this way. Good luck to you.

You could consult with Dr. Frank Gamberdella in SB. He teaches at UCLA, and can treat you or refer you to someone who can.

Thank you 088 and 138. 088, you are correct and I genuinely appreciate your concern. I'm hoping my new community has a member that has been successfully cared for as I keep running into walls in finding a referral locally. 138, thanks. I'll look into that now.

Well that sent me to Google and ...... yikes. Santa Barbara Birth Center might have some decent referrals to offer.

Hyperemesis gravidarum is, by definition, a complication of pregnanacy. (gravid means pregnant) I'd suggest seeing a GI specialist instead, or perhaps an endocrinologist if you think there really is a hormonal ("pregnancy-like") component to the problem.

I experienced hyperemesis gravidarum during my pregnancy and I didn't find any doctors that I saw to be particularly helpful. It wasn't until I went to urgent care that I was actually told what was going on. I did my own research and I highly recommend visiting helpher.org . I am actually a volunteer for this organization and serve as a peer support person for people experiencing HG in this area. You can find my contact info on the website if you go to "Volunteers", enter California as your state, and scroll down until you see someone from Santa Barbara - that's me.
