Rattler's Dance of Love

During an evening hike up Tunnel trail late Sunday we came upon 2 adult rattler's coiled around each other - both heads rising
about 2 feet above the paved trail . At first we thought we were observing a hypnotic mating dance between a male and female! We later discovered that this
is in fact a courtship ritual with 2 male rattlers! The receptive female was out of view, likely hiding in the brush. After this vigorous battle dance (that may
take hours or even days) is won, the female will mate with the victor! A rare sight to view indeed! Rattler's keep the rodent population down up here.
