What's your favorite smartphone app? Mine is SoundHound. You click on it and hold your phone up to a song that's playing and SoundHound will not only tell you the name of the song, but the artist who recorded it. This is especially helpful regarding commercials that often have songs playing in the background that you'd like to identify. Another app I like is iClean, in which a series of small animals is seen licking what appears to be the back of your smartphone screen in an attempt to clean it. But hey, I'm easily amused.

I love the flashlight app, now I don't have to carry a real flashlight in my purse in case of emergencies, and Google sky, which shows what's up there anytime...it's a fun toy. Just don't wear out the batteries in case you need the flashlight app.!

I love the Edhat app. It makes it so easy to read the stories and the comments, add my own comments, and I can upload pictures to Edhat in a flash. Oh that's right....must have been a dream. Never mind.

@218...a mobile formatting would at least help. It's odd that a site that relies on citizen subscriptions doesn't have a mobile app, but I guess that's the price of a "roll your own" blog vs WordPress which would make the mobile site easy.

The widget I use every day is Data Switch, and it helps me go a week on a battery charge by only having data on when I'm using it. Next most frequent used is the ColorNote app for lists & notes (Text Edit occasionally). Battery Indicator is so handy for quick glances, I tend to forget it's on there. Google Maps and Google Sky both get plenty of use, and OruxMaps is great if I ever fully learn to use it. The only one I paid for is AndRecorder, both because it's a great app and the Premium version let me make some fun ringtones. The big issue for me with apps is Permissions, and it's rare to find a good app that doesn't want to own and sell everything in your phone so I'm glad that at least Android lets me see what access they will have before installing them.

Shop Savvy Just hold your phone's camera towards a bar code on most any item and it will instantly give you the lowest price for both online & brick & mortar stores in the area. If one doesn't show up, you can enter the data right there on the spot. I used this to get a lower price at Walmart of all places!

Ditto GasBuddy is especially useful in this day of high gasoline prices. It seems like more & more people report the current gas prices too, so it's usually very current.

MotionX GPS. It's a paid but worth it if you travel a lot, works better then then the Garmin, one less thing to pack and you can share the subscription Tune in Radio. Free and you can listen to local, US or international radio stations. IHandy Level. Level, plumb and surface. Visual, digital and also sound. Free IBird for bird identification. I'm trying to get better. Paid. United and Hilton. Free and could be better, but handy for managing work travel. LodgeNet. Free. Hotel TV remote and guild for phone and pad. Most hotel TVs don't have guilds plus the remotes are probably the dirtiest thing in a room and are never cleaned CA marine map is good and works on GPS if out of range and weather bouy app CZ zombie. Kill zombies for free

@ 315588: I loaded Appkiller on my phone and I think it does a fairly good job of shutting off applications on your phone that can be running in the background to save your battery life. Facebook often sucks my battery life and I can kill the applications running. It works to reboot your phone in a way. Don't forget to shut-down and restart your smart phone daily to avoid weird glitches.
