Labor Day Travel

Santa Barbara Airport offers the following travel tips to help passengers prepare for an easy and enjoyable Labor Day holiday travel experience this weekend.

Before you leave for the Airport - Check your bags for prohibited items. You can visit the TSA website for a list.

Reduce wait time by getting a boarding pass online or at a self check-in kiosk at the Airline Terminal. Check if your airline offers paperless boarding passes. Check flight status from home or on your mobile phone by going to FlySBA.com to view our live flight schedule, or download our complimentary SBA app.

Get to the Airport early - Arrive 90 minutes prior to departure. Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and give themselves plenty of time to find parking, check their luggage and go through the security checkpoint.

Passenger Parking - Long Term Parking Lot 1 is on James Fowler Road and is a short walk to the Airline Terminal and is $12 per day. Long Term Parking Lot 2 is located on Frederic Lopez Road, just off Hollister Avenue near the corner of Hollister and Fairview Avenues to the west. Parking is $9 per day with free shuttle service to/from the Airline Terminal every 10 minutes.

Bring a government-issued photo ID for the security screening process. ID and boarding pass are required to access security screening. Having ID and boarding pass readily available will cut down on wait time in line for everyone. Children under the age of 18 do not require ID. If traveling internationally, please read the tips for International Travelers for passport requirements.

Passenger Drop-off/Pickup - Since September 11, 2011 TSA Security Regulations prohibit vehicles from waiting or parking at the Airline Terminal front curb. Only vehicles whose driver is actively loading or unloading passengers and baggage may be stopped at the front curb. Drivers must remain with their vehicle at all times. Any vehicle left unattended may be ticketed and towed.

If you wish to see your party off or greet your party inside the Airline Terminal, drivers must park their vehicles in Lot 1 adjacent to the Airline Terminal. Due to construction both Short Term Parking and Long Term Parking are co-mingled in this lot. The parking rate is $2 for the first hour and $1 every hour thereafter. The new Short Term Parking Lot is scheduled to open in early October.

Drivers who prefer to wait in their vehicle for arriving passengers may park in Lot 1 or use one of the Airport's cell phone waiting areas.

Park in one the Airport's Cell Phone Waiting Areas:

· The World War II Memorial parking lot near the east end of the Long Term Parking Lot off of James Fowler Road

· The Goleta Slough Overlook parking lot south of the Airline Terminal located directly across from the Hwy 217 Sandspit Exit on William Moffett Place

Waiting in your vehicle at the bus stop across the street from the terminal is prohibited. Vehicles create a safety hazard for bicyclists riding in the bike lane.

We appreciate your business and look forward to the completion of the Airline Terminal Project by October 2012. Santa Barbara Airport - Easy Come. Easy Go!
