‘AVOID the 12' and CHP will be conducting a DUI / Driver's License Checkpoint in the City of Santa
Barbara on Friday August 31st from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM. Driver's licenses will be checked at these
checkpoints.
‘AVOID the 12' encourages everyone to drink responsibly, pre-arrange for a ride home, designate a
driver and understand that every officer will be diligently looking for the impaired driver. Additionally,
DUI enforcement officers will be on patrol throughout the weekend and we would prefer to arrest the
DUI driver than to find them in a collision.
‘AVOID The 12" will also have a DUI Task Force in the City of Santa Barbara on Sunday September 2nd
between 6:00 PM and 4:00 AM.
The national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown is led by the California Office of Traffic Safety
(OTS) and NHTSA, with the California Avoid DUI Task Force Campaign combining high-visibility
enforcement and heightened public awareness through publicity.
