By Roger the Scanner Guy
Well it's da Middle of the week and y'all know what that means; Humpity, Hump Day. Some of you are almost there. Many more don't know what Hump Day is; they just be working all the time. That was how I used to work Weekends, Holidays, and Graveyard Shifts loved ‘em all didn't have to deal with no one. SNOT that I'm Anti-Social or Nothing just loved being alone. I'm pretty much still the same way. Love doing these Scanner Reports just listen to them write down most of them, not all. Sometimes I'm writing down several calls at the same time and they all get mixed up. It really Sucks Sometimes I miss calls, take a break go to the little boys room. It never fails I go out back to see if Pooh Bears OK Just for a second leave the scanner on the table. Suddenly sirens all over the place I pretty much listen from before I wake up till 10pm at night. Once in a great while I shut the scanner off at night to relax It never fails though I don't get everything.
I've always been the way where I feel like I got to get everything. I've been that way with other jobs too all my life I had to be perfect or it didn't count. I went through a lot of jobs getting frustrated because I wasn't perfect. I stink there were other issues in my brain drain too. The meningitis and beatings. No I never was completely all here.
But it's OK I don't mind. Everything's the way it's supposed to be, and I pretty much get all the news I'm supposed to get. There are other news agencies here in Santa Barbara supposed to do the news. What is funny to me is some people here think I'm a real Journalist and I'm constantly telling people I'm not. Some get mad at the way I write assuming it's all an act, but it's SNOT I'm really not a Journalist. I would have been a Journalist had that damn mosquito not bit me and fried my brain like eggs on a hot sidewalk. St. Louis encephalitis/ meningitis got me, took my Journalism degree. But like I said before everything's the way it's supposed to be. While we're still here; if you have standing water in your yard or around the house pour it out. You don't want your neighborhood mosquitos cooking up a batch of that West Nile Virus, you don't want it this is not an illness you can drink a pint of freshly squeezed orange juice, or a hit of Jack and get rid of. This illness can kill you, or someone you love. This illness can cripple you, or someone you love. You don't want it. The otter thing I wanna say is drink a lot of water it's hot outside. A warning; there have been a lot of rape reports, and sexual assaults lately be careful going out and about. Always be aware of your surroundings. If you go out at night take a friend and don't separate. OK? OK.
