Has anyone checked out the new rock climbing gym that just opened? I work out at Key2Fitness which is
right next door so I've been watching the walls go up. Hopefully the prices will be reasonable!

It's open! $20\day rate, $60\month. It will be a bit of time before they work out the kinks and flow of the place but it is awesome we finally have a gym in SB. Just wish the place was bigger and the walls higher. If you've climbed elsewhere you will notice the walls are very short for a climbing gym due to the space they choose. The preview party was packed, so seems to be lots of interest!

Yeah it is great to have, wish the walls were higher, but with the building height limit here it was the best they could do. They are thinking some day they might do like the colorado version and dig down into a basement so they get three stories by going down, instead of up, which would be great some day in the future. Great for bouldering routes, workable for top rope, but more height would be awesome. Can't complain though, nice to have in town and we all wish them good luck.

Their rates actually went down. I heard they had some complaints about the rates so they changed them. Went by yesterday, looks awesome.

You want higher walls? Perhaps you've noticed those giant mountains behind us. Why pay to climb a small wall when you can climb Gibraltar Rock or the Playground for free?
