East Campus is out and some classes will meet at a alterate location. West Campus has power. Check the SBCC website. Don't just not show up. The above post is incorrect.

Looks like power has been restored to the east campus, i.e. admin, student services, bookstore, cafeteria, etc... No free ride today kids. For how long who knows?

SBCC sent a text informing you that power was out but class is meeting if you signed up for alerts

It's the new program to teach kids about reality. Stay in school, get a degree, and then move back home with your parents because you can't find a job. And then the power goes out.

My son had a 5 hour photog class that met outside and then he claims the instructor let everyone go home less than 2 hours in to it.

Power is being restored to parts of East campus and they plan to have all campus back in power by early afternoon. Classes are still on. Whew! I teach early afternoon and it's a hot one today to have class outside!

At 1:00 p.m., the electrical power was restored for all of SBCC's East campus. The college is fully operational.

This might not be the worst of things at SBCC. The enrollments are down for the adult ed programs and one reason might be due to a lack of catalog distribution. This fantastic program has been here for decades but due to a combination of reduced State funding, therefore, fees now being charged and the limited access to catalogs in libraries, food stores and public announcements, the lights might just go out for adult ed, too.
Registration is open at Schott and Wake Centers from 8-5 and on line 24 hours/day. Fees are reasonable if one realizes that the costs can be figured out per hour. Many beginning classes are still free if the State pays for 10 weeks. There are public forums scheduled this Thursday at Wake Center, 5:30 and two in September, so please try to attend to learn what is happening to adult ed and to make your voices heard. Or, the lights might just go out despite efforts to create a new Center for Lifelong Learning (the new adult ed). Santa Barbara deserves the effort.

Serban was a good steward of college monies so major maintenance could prevent problems like this. She knew what she was doing.
