Scanner Reports 8-20-12
updated: Aug 20, 2012, 9:58 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Monday-Monday Welcome to Monday. Anutter work week ahead of some of you. Most people just keep working through the weekend, I think nowadays. On the subject of Drunk Driving; the difference between losing one's license for a year compared to 4 months on a first offence is submitting to a chemical or breath test. The majority of the people I have known would not only refuse the test but would resist arrest ending up in a knock down drag out fight with the police. These are people who don't whine with their wine, they pound a bottle of hard liquor almost OD-ing on the alcohol before they go for a little drive for more. When I was a kid everyone and their Mother, and GrandMammy drank and drove. When you got pulled over and just about everyone did sooner or later get pulled over depending on how you acted was the difference between being escorted home, and going to jail. Even though some people went to jail many were not charged with Drinking and Driving. When I drank and drove I went to one of two places the hospital, or jail. I was given multiple choices I always fought or ran. I crashed several times and when I finally injured someone bad enough and they almost lost their life I began to think. It wasn't until I came to California and sobered up in Santa Barbara that I took the crime of Drinking and Driving seriously. I finally figured out that it isn't my right to drink and drive.

I don't think it's anyone else's right either even if they are rich and famous and think they have the police department in their pocket. Laws and whether or Not one feels they have the Right to break the law is not the only thing one should consider or take seriously when drinking and driving. One should always consider "The victim" if a crash has occurred. Is the victim alive, hurt, or dead? Is the victim just a regular Joe? Related to a police officer, or related to someone involved in Organized Crime? Is the drunk driver going to lose their license for 4 months? Do a year in jail and get treated like dirt by the guards? Or lose a limb that is near and dear to them? That is another thing that made me not only quit drinking and driving but also breaking the law all together. Most criminals do not take in consideration who their victims are, they should. "Oh Roger just let it go the Arrogant Selfish Drunk Driver did SNOT hurt anyone they just got caught, they promise that they will NEVER Drink and Drive again." I would SNOT be Roger if I let it go.
