Scanner Reports 8-17-12
updated: Aug 17, 2012, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Thank Dog it's FRYday! What is it about Donuts? Every time I listen to one of those people barricading themselves in a structure about an hour or so into it I get an intense craving for donuts and coffee.

Cinnamon donuts and Folgers coffee with dry creamer it kills me I got the Folgers but I'm borderline diabetic I've been fighting diabetes for years, I eat a little sugar but SNOT very much. When I sit here listening to a Stand off I crave donuts. I start thinking about Dunkin Donuts, Krispy Kreme. Winchell's and Spudnuts are too far away, I don't walk so good anymore. People are always joking around about cops munching on Donuts must be some truth to it somewheres. Most cops I see look pretty fit, Usually when I'm craving sugar I open up an 18 ounce jar of peanut butter I could eat those like people eat a pint of ice cream. I don't eat peanut butter when I'm listening to a Stand Off I just crave cinnamon donuts and coffee go figure!

Weird call I heard on Thursday 23152 Driver under the Influence of Heroin? Reporting Party actually saw driver shoot themselves with a syringe. The call started at Circle K on South Milpas driver apparently drove East on Cacique, The dispatcher said South on Milpas after that I was out the door I wanted to see this, my brain was thinking faster than my legs and I almost splattered myself on the driveway. By the time I got out there the driver was somewhere else a Santa Barbara cop drove past though. Back in the old pad I heard the driver went East on Cacique and was actually in the neighborHOOD across the freeway cruising around. I have never done heroin in my life I was always afraid of hard drugs after my experiences as a kid prescribed Thorazine because I had an anger problem. The closest I ever came to heroin was when my former doctor prescribed vicodin and soma to me and I took both. They did wonders for my pain one day one of my neighbors who happened to be a former heroin addict found me slumped over in my chair he slapped me awake a bit and totally freaked when he found out what I was on. "HELL it's just medication!" I said. Dr. Diaz prescribed me 8 Vicodins, and 4 somas a day along with a host of other medications. I never took that much though just enough...I'd take maybe one of each it was the combination that was deadly though apparently the mixture of medications have killed people. I cannot imagine what it must be like to cruise around town nodding out at the wheel. The driver under the influence of heroin parked her car, got out and went to a bus stop. She might have thought she outsmarted the police but the Reporting Party was reporting her every move and not to long after that she was in custody near Voluntario and Cacique. Her vehicle a white Ford with Oregon plates towed away.

Driving under the influence of heroin What the HELL are people thinking? Alcohol is bad too but heroin? If it wasn't for the Reporting Party the woman might have ran into a child walking around or out for a bike ride and killed them. The person that reported this woman's actions is a Hero in my book. Earlier there was another call a Reporting Party reported a driver that Hit and Ran, a parked vehicle in the first block of East Micheltorena that driver was reported as possibly 23152 Drunk. That Reporting Party also followed the driver calling 911 and reporting the drivers every move and police were able to arrest the suspect. I don't know if that driver was drunk. If it wasn't for the Reporting Parties these two drivers might still be on the road. Thank You to our Santa Barbara Area citizens who take it upoon themselves to call 911 when they see Wrong Doing.

Here is Your Scanner Reports, Wednesday:

  • I woke up in the middle of a call I hate when that happens because I have a rough time trying to figure out what happened especially if it is as serious as this one sounded. I heard an AMR Medic say "Upgrading to Code 3." At the same time I heard the siren over the scanner and down the street, whatever happened was not too far away. I heard a Police Officer say "This appears to be a 245." (Assault with a deadly weapon.) It took a while listening to the scanner to find out the victim was in Cottage had a lacerated ear which was bleeding heavily and a brain bleed. I'm not assuming too much but it sounds like a slice and a beating to go. I have no idea if the victim made it; it seems that not many people recover fully from a brain bleed. I haven't seen anything in the news about it and probably won't if the victim was homeless.
