Smoke in a building downtown 631 State Street. Cross of Cota, State Incident.
Large 2-story commercial building.

Employee turned on AC lite smoke was showing SBFD on scene..Electrical odor 1st floor, smoke disapating..

Fairly heavy smoke found comming from a vent they are going to open it up and see what they got.

In the begging they cancelled Engine 2 they are responding now because the smoke is building again..Engine 2 responding code 2.

Sounds like they have a small fire underneath the storage in the basement.

Smoke in the attic clear I don't know about the storage in the basement either way it's sometype of electrical vent thing...

State street is closes at that block, fire truck with big ladder going up to the top of the building.

The fire was in a very historical building at State and Cota Streets. Now home to Velo Pro bicycle shop, it was Santa Barbara's first pharmacy - the Gutierrez Pharmacy dating back to the mid 1800's. The fire was noticed by neighboring businesses and called in as reported by Roger. SBFD responded to find that a compressor located in the basement had overhead and melted the plastic shrouding. That caused smoke to permeate the entire building. Urban Hikers have sent pics.
