Scanner Report 8-11-12
updated: Aug 10, 2012, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Anutter FRYday Hair we are! Got my backside burning the Otter day when someone complained to the EDITOR that I missed a breaking news story. It was Wednesday and on that day I started listening to the Scanner real early and had been listening all day when the call came in about a vehicle into a tree on Foxen Canyon Road with possible injuries, nothing was said about a fatality. Around the same time there was a report of a center divider fire up near Buellton. The center dividers up there have much more vegetation that we have down here. The possibility of a fire there compared to our center dividers could get outta control real quick. I dropped the Unknown if Injury car accident for the Fire which is what I do. To me a Fire is much more serious than a vehicle accident. Concerning vehicle accidents I hear at least a couple dozen a day and most are non-injury.

On top of all this I am not required to listen to the Scanner 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I'm SNOT normal, but like NORMAL people, I sleep, use the can, take breaks, eat food, drink coffee, go on bicycle rides, I have a little bit of a life, SNOT Much but a little bit. It's MINE ALL MINE AND NOBODYS GETTING IT!!! However much of the time I'm out and about I carry a Scanner I haven't gone out much lately because I pay for the batteries for my Scanner out of my pocket and I only buy them when they are on sale from Rite Aid. I can get all the batteries I need for a month or better from Rite Aid when they are on sale for about 15.00 bucks. I'm hoping they are on sale FRYday Today. I won't know until 8am this is 7am. Hey maybe I'll steal them if they are SNOT on sale, Heehee.

Then I will make the Scanner Reports. Just so ya all know I'm not required to do this 24/7, Even So I do it most of the time because it's what I do but I don't get everything that happens in Santa Barbara County. The other thing that burns me up is not too long ago there were complaints about "Too many Roger Code Reds" So I have been limited I cannot directly post Code Reds from 8am to 5pm Monday thru FRYday, I'm being controlled. I hate being controlled! If I wasn't being CONTROLLED that story about the vehicle hitting the tree on Foxen Canyon Road would have been up, and there would be about a dozen other Code Reds up there also. Missing the breaking news story about the vehicle into a tree was totally SNOT my fault. DON'T BLAME ME!!!

A decent Police Scanner can be had from Radio Shack at any one of their stores for about 99.00 Bucks they are 200 channels and work well.

Concerning the comment about taking a class at City College and opening my eyes; I went to City College when I was younger. I took Administration of Justice and it really OPENED MY EYES. Especially when I was asked to leave the class because I was on non-formal probation. The experience opened my eyes wide and I never went back nor will I. I did go to Adult Ed for a time. The only class I stuck to for any time at all was Bill Downey's writing class. Bill was a great man. He wrote one of my all-time favorite books: Uncle Sam Must be Losing the War. About his service in WW2 It's on Amazon. Order it and read it. It will open your Eyes.
