Can anyone recommend a real estate agent who's familiar with the local mobile home communities for
seniors? I'll be visiting to check out possibilities. I left SB many years ago, and I've always missed it. And
does anyone know if/when the butterflies still visit the Music Academy of the West? thanks!

Jeff Oien at Village Properties (805) 895-2944 is the only one to use. He is honest, caring and has been helping seniors for over two decades.

Jean Sedar (www [.] jeansedar [.] com). She is honest, trustworthy, and a hard worker. She doesn't push, and always works within your budget. And she knows the senior mobile home market.

I think the first post was written by person named. I would recommend Jeff Oien as he has always specialized in mobile homes and is very knowledgeable. I remember when he first started in RE and he was our youngest member of the MLS. I do think that was thirty years ago. How time flies. He is good with all his transactions. I'll second the suggestion for Jeff Oien. I knew him when he started. He majored in Elder issues and is very good.

Well, just to be fair - I'm not Kim Bish, and I do think he's great. He did a very good job for us (selling). We we're happy and would use him again.

As for the butterflies, they do not visit Butterfly Lane by the Music Academy in any numbers any more; too much tree trimming and development. See them in Goleta, instead, the butterfly preserve.

Gail Cooley! Honostly... No body better! She is a rare find as far as agents go. Her #1 priority is her clients.... Not her commission! Wouldn't work with anyone else!

My mother moved up from LA into one of the local senior parks and lived there for a few years until her passing. We helped her to choose her home and none of us knew the differences between the parks. One thing we learned after she moved in was that she should have asked the residents what they think of the park managers. The ones at her place were mean and unpleasant and it really bothered her. The real estate agent won't necessarily tell you this because they want to be able to keep doing business easily within the park.

If you are looking in a senior park, especially on Old Mill Road, call Jeff Owen. He is simply the best, most caring agent for the elderly. Sold my parents their home in 1988 and then it for them in 2004 when they moved to Maravilla. He held a garage sale for them, interviewed movers, personally packed their china and crystal, and walked them through the whole process. He is a Village.

No, no, NO on Cutler. Agree about the park managers. I live in a mobile home (family, not senior) and the owners are totally nuts who typically attract managers of the same temperment. I say, "managers" because turnover rate in this park is unbelievable! Although, our park was lucky enough to have great managers over this last year, once the owners got wind that the residents were forming a community (thanks to the new managers), the owners promptly chased them out. So yes, be careful!

I work for a probate and estate lawyer and we have had great experience working with Shirley Kimberlin in Carpinteria -- very knowledgable and easy to work with. She specializes in mobile homes, understands the rules, economics, lending and specialized forms. 805-886-0228

Will Cunningham is a broker who processes loans for mobile homes at Community West Bank in the Goleta office. He's not an agent but knows most of them. He's one of the nicest people I've ever met, and will give honest recommendations. 681-3366

If you are interested in Santa Ynez Valley the best agent here is Karen Atkins with Prudential (805)688-2969. She is truly the best when it comes to mobile homes. Current listings in Solvang and Buellton.

Here is another vote for Jean Sedar -- she's great! And I'll second the suggestion to find out about the the park manager(s) where you are considering a purchase -- ask some of the residents.

Deb McNally. I live in Rancho Goleta, a family park with lots of seniors. Nice melding of ages. And I believe it's the only owner owned park in the county. Do give her a call @698 4999.

Rancho Goleta is not the only owner-owned park in Santa Barbara County. There is one in Summerland and there are two in Carpinteria.
