Around 3:00 today, lots of police at building by Canon Perdido & Olive. I saw them talking
to.each.other and a woman. Anybody know what was up?

242 At the housing office 800 Block of Laguna a clinet threw a soft drink on employees and left. His housing unit is right down the street. Maybe they got him at Olive and Canon Perdido. Also there is some gangs in that area there was a fight near there during Fiesta. The neighborhood also has it's share of paroles and drunks.

Weird. Takeoff was almost immediate and I hear one in the air. Hope they're not waiting to land, but leaving. I mean, I hope so for the patient's sake.

Not everyone on housing is a drunk, gang member, or parolee but think what you will.

You are correct Roger, but they should be more vigilant on who is in these units. They often DO house the unemployed (by profession), drug users and gang bangers

6008... what's your solution? a firing squad or are you more Stalinist in your approach with gulags up in Alaska? I'm always curious of what the anti-social experiment will entail since it was the conservative cuts in social spending that closed down all the mental hospitals and wards. However I don't know about being on parole or in a gang as a qualification for welfare.

I thought Stalin was a communist/liberal...? So we (taxpayers), should continue to accept that we should donate to poverty by not limiting benefits for those that are on the public dole their entire life? How about manditory work programs or vocational training? There is no incentive to get off the dole if we (taxpayers), just keep writing blank checks... It's called personal responsibility. I was a contractor for years. The economy tanked and I attended SBCC for 2 yrs and made a career change. I never expected the public at large to support me during this transition.

Maybe you should stop equating communists and liberals, they are two completely different things.

I am sick and tired of the ignorance. The Housing Authority assists people of all ages, race and religion. Seniors are espacially grateful for their help and concern. Stop bashing something you know nothing about. Get your nose out of the sand and learn about the programmes. And leave Roger alone.

The social experiment with many billionaires created has also failed. We've all paid a part of the price, most likely, for those 10,000 sq. foot + homes in this area. The polarization in the world is not helping most of us.

For those of you who think its easy to get onto Housing Authority, I suggest you go to the Housing Authority office, tell them you are an unemployed gang member parolee and see if they give you housing.

Roger Dodger - You're right; not every one on housing is a drunk, gang member, etc... Some of the others are "housing cheats" who don't qualify for the housing but live there anyway because of the ineffectiveness of the Housing Authority to police its applicants and follow-up on them. Scandalous.

I know of a person who sublets their low income housing to make more money while living with other family members. I wonder how common that is.

I was recently in the Housing Authority offices, and treated with such compassion and respect, it was overwhelming. As a senior citizen who has worked hard since the age of 14, my need for housing has now become a strong one. I appreciate the programs for those in need. One guy who may have "lost it" while in those offices should not reflect on the staff there or the people in the housing units. This person should be examined, and assisted asap.

I tried to get on the list for HA several times during my life and have always been told that there is a waiting list to get on the waiting list... in other words, SOL. But alcoholics get on it way faster!
