NEW OIL SPILL RETRIEVAL VESSEL SPOTTED MOORED IN EAST
BEACH WATERS
Has anyone else noticed the new vessel that seems to have appeared
over the last day or two to replace the old one that had the netting over it
that had been there for ages? Any ideas about what kind/or what type of
new equipment it might have?

Because of the 1966 oil spill a oil containment/recovery vessel is required by law to be on hand here. The Clean Seas II has had that privilege all these years and has done double duty steaming up to Alaska to help with the Exxon Valdez spill and the recent BP spill in the Gulf. However you refer to the vessel with the netting over it and that was a containment barge.

The oil spill was 1969.

Yeah the old Barge was replaced. I noticed it was gone for about 2 weeks. Then they replaced the mooring cans it was attached to and yesterday I noticed that a new Barge was there! "Mr. Clean" the Big Blue boat that would presumable tow the barge has been MIA for a while. But there is another Boat that has been in its spot for a while now. I forgot its name but it isn't able to tow anything so not sure what the plan is with that.

Saw it towed in at 6:30 am Monday from the west channel. Tow boat left in same direction soon after. (I am assuming this is the same vessel)
