Honestly, I have given that as much thought as I have given to the location of my "favorite fire hydrant". Plus, the banks change names so often now I don't think anyone can keep track of who's who.

I definitely have favorite fire hydrants. Have given much thought. I think must settle on la arcada downtown.

The *best* customer service is at the Citibank branch in Magnolia Shopping Center on Hollister. It reminds me of how business was conducted in the small town where I grew up--courteous, personal, honorable. (I really dislike Citibank, but I love this branch!)

SBB&T upper village in Montecito is beautiful inside. I feel as if I am in a 5 star hotel lobby.

There IS that fancy shiny brass fireplug downtown. It's just off State by a hotel. Sorry I can't remember the name. The best "looking" bank to me, is the one out by Ralph's in Magnolia. Why? Because it's people are SO helpful and nice. It's what's on the inside that counts.

Community West Bank, 1501 State St. Charming branch that features the works of local artists. Great staff that knows their customers by name. One of the few "true" community banks left, especially with the Union Bank takeover of SBB&T.

Golden 1 in Goleta on Calle Real. Not technically a bank, but thats partially why I like them. Online banking is a bit simpler than Wells Fargo, but it works just fine.

The Rabobank on Castillo/Pueblo vicinity (???), near Cottage hospital... It's in a converted wooden cottage. Gotta laugh every time I pass by, not to mention the name.

this was a pretty random question. I wonder if there's a bank office manager out there who's fishing for compliments on their own branch? LOL

OP here - just someone who utmost appreciates good architecture, am just ok managing money; am not a branch manager. There was big controversy over the original architectural plans for the bank building at the corner of Anacapa and Carillo, now Rabobank. Am glad the Pearl Chase types helped raise the call for a handsome building then.

Downtown main branch of Montecito Bank & Trust, high ceilings, old Spanish feel to the building, AND most importantly, friendly staff, good management, locally owned and operated (unlike SBBT now), and they give $1 million back to the community to non-profits every year (their Community Dividends program) just before Thanksgiving. It is located at the northeast corner of State and Carrillo, with convenient parking in back (city lot), and I never have trouble getting 15 minute parking on the Carrillo Street side to use the ATM there.
