Toyota Tacoma Thefts
updated: Aug 02, 2012, 8:43 AM

Source: Santa Barbara Police Department

The Santa Barbara Police Department is advising members of the community to be aware of recent vehicle thefts involving Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks and license plate thefts involving plates affixed to Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks.

Owners of Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks are advised to take additional measures to secure their vehicles; such as parking in a garage, using a steering wheel lock, or utilizing an alarm. The suspects in these thefts may possess a master key allowing entry into and starting of any Toyota Tacoma. Additionally, it is recommended that Toyota Tacoma owners check their license plates frequently to ensure that their plates have not been stolen. In some circumstances stolen license plates have been replaced with plates stolen from other vehicles.

Buyers of used Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks should exercise caution. Be suspicious of a Toyota Tacoma being sold at well below market value by a seller only willing to accept cash for payment.

Report any suspicious activity immediately to 911.
