Gangs In SB

Has anyone heard anything lately about the gang injunctions and if they've been working in our county? I
know there are a lot of organizations out there to help curb gang violence. Does anyone have any insight
on the progress?

The Gang Task Force chief updates the Santa Barbara City Council and says coordination between multiple
agencies and entities has increased.

As far as I know the local gang injunction has been bogged down in court and has not been enforced yet.

The police cheif says we don't have any gangs in Santa Barbara the problem is in remission.

Re: no gangs in Santa Barbara? Does anyone happen to know what happened on Cook St Sunday night across from Foodland? There was a brawl with women screaming and a toddler running in the street. I could hear it all, couldn't see it, but if there are no gangs in Santa Barbara... what was this? Have felt very uneasy being home since this occurred.

753 who says that was gang related if you couldn't see it all? Shoot that neighborhood (yes I live VERY close) is full of disfunction. Of course their are "gangs" here - always has been probably always will be. Who knows what will come of the "gang injunction" - probably nothing.

You are correct, even with the little that I did see (peeking out of the blinds, but not wanting to be seen looking/no glasses on), I have no idea if it was gang related or not. Unfortunately, that was the assumption I made - the only similar type of disturbance I've experienced was just drunks coming home from the bar. And this was definitely not the same. I am just anxious about what happened and was hoping I could get more information.

@753 & 776: 728 Cook Ave is where the 18-year-old tagger lives who just got arrested. Suppose there was a connection?
