Will once again it's da middle of the week, Humpster Day. Funny about that all my friends on Facebook kept saying Happy Hump Day on Wednesday and I thought they meant something else by wishing everyone a Happy Hump Day on Wednesday. I thought well what else is there to do in Indiana? And I also thought that many of my friends being over 50 must only be able to do "It" once a week now, Bummer! I'm over 50 now and the last time....NEVERMIND! Anyway in the old days when we was young about the only thing to do in Indiana was get drunk and fight. I usually got Drunk OK but since I wasn't too good at fighting I'd get Drunk and get beat up. That was until my 30's when I figured out that alcohol did for me what Spinach did for Popeye. I found out because when I lived in Ellwood.
I used to have a roommate. We will call him Dick because that is what he was. Dick used to love and come up behind me and smack me in the back of the head, then run away. He was much thinner and smaller than me and better able to run away. It always took a lot for me to get angry. One time I was real drunk and he did his little passive- aggressive thing. I just happened to turn and snap up his arm, I got him by the wrist and gave him a little squeeze Boy! Did he scream, and the more he screamed the more I squeezed...I had him on his knees begging me to let him go but I was drunk. I was remembering back all the years I got beat up and I would not let go. I made him give me all his money and his cigarettes the last thing I remember is tossing him into a cabinet. I came to in County Jail the next morning. I did my 18 hours and was sobering up when a member of the crisis team was interviewing me as to why I told people I was going to rob a liquor store and then dive head first into a train off the Storke Bridge. I asked the feller where I was arrested he told me Entrance and Hollister. It was a darn good thing the coppers got me before I got across the street to the liquor store. I was wondering where Dick was involving all this. I remembered knocking the HELL outta him but it somehow ended there. The more I thought about it the more worried I became, the only explanation I could come up with in my twisted alcoholic mind was that I killed Dick.
But where was his body? How come they hadn't found it yet? I knew at any second someone was going to come in and charge me with murder for killing Dick. I was noticeably starting to freak out twitching and shaking, of course they probably thought I was having DT's, and I was. The Crisis team guy said he was going to recommend release as long as I promised I'd go back to AA, of course I fed him a line of scrap I couldn't wait to get the HELL outta there and pound a couple bottles. I was in the process of being released when I couldn't take it any longer and I admitted killing my roommate. You guys should have seen the look on the woman's face she was across the counter from me handing me an envelope with my personal belongings in it. She vacated the room a couple guards came in and secured me. She came back in with a supervisor and said "Where is his body?" I answered, "Behind the Carport of our complex in the 400 Block of Ellwood Beach Road." Deputies responded code 3, looked all over the place, there was no body found. "Are you sure you killed him?" She asked, then added, "What is the last thing you remember?" I remembered picking him up and slamming him against the wall yanking his arm. She said "Oh is his name Dick?" I said "Yes it is" "He's up front", she said laughing, "He's been trying to bail you out all morning." She connected the dots because Dick had a sling on his arm, because I yanked it out of its socket. I'm one of those people that should not drink. I don't anymore haven't for a few beers, I mean years.
Wow Fiesta, it was Fiesta the last time I fell off the wagon. I wonder what Dick is up to; haven't seen him in a long time. That jail is going to be packed full of people like Sardines the next few days. I'm grateful to the supreme DOG I ain't going to be there with Dick. I hope all of you stay outta there too.
