Technically anything hanging from the mirror is illegal in a moving vehicle and constitutes probable cause for a traffic stop. Just sayin'

543: care to give specifics? Even a page from the current state driver's handbook? C'mon.

If you find you can't get them locally, I'm sure you could order them online from J.C. Whitney.

Pep Boys. Maybe you can get a brodie knob to go with it. That would be classy!

"California Vehicle Code 26708 subdivision (a)(2), a person shall not drive a car with any object or material placed, affixed, or installed on the vehicle which obstructs or reduces the driver's clear view through the windshield or side windows. Although hanging air fresheners are usually very small and only dangle from the rearview mirror, as long as it is objectively reasonable for the police officer to believe that the air freshener obstructed or reduced a driver's clear view through the windshield, then you may be stopped and cited for a California Vehicle Code violation"

If you need to ask where to buy them, you probably shouldn't have them, though on a walker you will probably be able to get away with it.

3548... believe it or not it's true. It doesn't happen often but if a cop needs probable cause to stop you and smell the contents of your vehicle you just gave it to him/her.

It isn't true and 560P's "quotation" not what the law says. I don't know what book/source they're quoting (as they were sloppy and didn't include it). That is NOT what the law says. Look it up yourselves.

Here's is the exact code: California Vehicle Code “Section 26708. (a) (2) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied in or upon the vehicle which obstructs or reduces the driver's clear view through the windshield or side windows.” So - Yes..you can be pulled over for Fuzzy Dice..are they going to? Probably not unless they really want to check you for something else. It can be used as a perfectly legal reason to give them probable cause to pull you over.

Speaking of things hanging from the rear view mirror...one of my biggest pet peeves is people who permanently leave their handicap placard hanging from their rear view mirror. I have a placard and it is so easy to put up and take down. You wouldn't believe the huge blind spot that that placard causes. I really wish police would start pulling these people over and tell them to take it down. The fact is that if you forget to put it up and you get a ticket for parking in a handicap spot, all you have to do is show up to court with the placard and explain that you forgot. Easy peasy. C'mon fellow handicappers, get with it!!!

In the Pacific NW a lot of pick up trucks had a scrotal sac hanging from the rear tow hitch. It made me laugh OL the first time I saw one. I'm not sure how a pair of those would look on a walker. Google "truck balls."

303702 - Yes I laugh too when I see those. As if driving a huge pick up truck isn't already enough over-compensation for being, how shall I say, less than fully endowed.

Maybe Scavenge in Santa Barbara. They have lava lamps, quirky collectable lunch boxes, Halloween costumes, and all kinds of unexpected treasures. I'm sure they have hanging dice. Or probably any of the "head" shops. There's a "head" shop in the KMart shopping center in Goleta that has knives, lighters, bongs, hookas, incense burners, and different jewelry for various unusual pierced places. I'm willing to bet they have hanging fuzzy dice for your car. Or lava lamps. Walking around one of those places is definitely an education in counter-culture. ;)
