The men and women of the Santa Barbara Police Department would like to encourage
everyone to have a safe and fun Fiesta.
Anticipate traffic congestion at times around the various Fiesta venues. Road
closures and detours can be expected downtown in conjunction with the Historical
Parade on Friday, August 3rd, and the Children's Parade on Saturday, August 4th.
A listing of Old Spanish Days and community events occurring during Fiesta can
be found at:
http://www.oldspanishdays-fiesta.org/new/index.php/calendar/calendar_all.
The public can expect a police presence at many of the event venues and
downtown. Laws concerning disorderly conduct such as public consumption of
alcohol, public intoxication, and challenging to fight will be strictly
enforced.
A number of gang enforcement officers from outside agencies and juvenile
probation officers will also be present during Fiesta. Unsupervised minors may
be cited for violation of the City's 10:00 p.m. juvenile curfew.
Don't drink and drive. A number of additional Drinking Driver Team officers
will be deployed during Fiesta, as will a sobriety checkpoint.
