Cox Interference

Just wondering if anyone else is getting signal interference on TCM (ch.69) on Cox
cable. Different color squares flash on the screen, looks like laser rot to anyone
familiar with laserdiscs. Been happening 24 hours now.

It happens a lot with Cox cable. It's either a weak signal or physical interference on your actual cable. Check to see if there are any sharp kinks, twists or bends in your cable. That should help with the worst of it but it won't help with the general decrease in the quality of the originating signal.

Switching from RG59 cable to RG6 should help too

Troubleshooting 101...if it happens on this channel but no others it is NOT your cable that needs checking, as 922/923 suggest. And if LONESTARCA is seeing the same thing then it's a problem between Cox and TCM, and there's nothing you can do about it except call Cox and complain.

2925... it could be happening to other channels that the OP hasn't noticed yet. Yes, it's more common with some less than mainstream channels like TCM, A&E or TLC but I've been having it with CNN and sometimes HBO. Switching to RG6 helped a couple of years ago but the problem is re-occurring. Either there is greater demand for the signal so it gets weaker further from site of origin or Cox is saving pennies per subscriber by shaving signal strength. It could be Cox and/or it could be the cable. No way of diagnosing from here in 1000 characters or less.

Checked on neighbors TVs, it is indeed Cox. They really do suck.

Every time this happens, you can call Cox and tell them you want a deduction on your bill. They will usually give you up to $9.00 off your bill.

We are having terrible reception with the HD channels, sometimes just a black screen, other times voices cutting out, screen freezing or picture breaking up. We end up watching the Olympics on a regular blurry channel. Too bad we are spoiled and used to HD! And yes, we have Cox!

Folks...we are right smack dab in the middle of the height of the solar flare cycle. You are going to see a lot of intermittent wackiness with your signals. This will all calm down next year. Nothing to worry about.
