July 29, 2012 - Olympic Sized Moth

It's that time of year, well it's that time of every fourth year where the Summer Olympics are played twenty four hours a day on the majority of TV screens across America. We sit on our couches and watch as the extremely talented athletes duke it out for the prestigious gold medal. "USA! USA! USA!" can be heard from most bars on State Street as we cheer on our national heroes and heroines. The opening ceremony was... let's be honest it was different. It was quirky, fanciful and educational. It reminded Ed of his 8th grade social studies class, which he also slept through. Nonetheless, it was an interesting British start to the exciting Olympic Games.

The picture of the day is a rather large moth, olympic size if we keep with the theme. I guess everything really is bigger in America. From super sized big gulps to Montecito Moths, bigger is better. With that said, go America. Bring home the bigger and better gold.

The Dog of the Week is Frankie. He's a rescue who greatly enjoys catching a ball. The Cat of the Week is MicMac, who has a best friend named Paddwhack. We wonder if he gives the dog a bone? Marc Liberts rates some tasty vino, Edda dishes out boyfriend advice, and the Fiesta Horse Counting Contest is back on! Find these stories and more below.

ASK EDDA: Dear Edda, My boyfriend and I have been going out for a year. We are both 18 and go to different colleges. We usually speak every day. Lately, if I don't call him by a certain time, he starts to panic.

WINE: Marc Liberts attends a BYOB winemaker dinner with an Alsatian White varietals theme.

DOG OF THE WEEK: Meet Frankie, the ball catching rescue.

CAT OF THE WEEK: Meet MicMac, born in Maine but a welcomed local.
