Burger King Closing
updated: Jul 25, 2012, 2:54 PM

By Edhat Subscriber

Apparently the Burger King on upper State St. is closing down. They have signs posted on the door and drive-thru that today is their last day there. The assistant manager said they lost their lease. That location has been open at that spot since at least the early 1970's! The manager said they would like to re-open in Santa Barbara if and when they can find a new location.

I will miss this location. Used to eat there a lot when I worked on Hitchcock in the early 90s.

There also used to be a Burger King up on the Mesa 10+ years ago.

No Burger King and no Arby's in Santa Barbara. No wonder I live in Ventura now.

Chic-Fil-A is evil. The owners are proudly homophobic.

i would love to see the citizens of SB stand up against this gay hating business Chick-Fil-A and show them very strongly that we do not want them here. You better believe i will be out there whenever i can informing their employees and customers what they are supporting when they spend money at Chick-Fil-A. They are disgusting. BOYCOTT!

I was sort of excited about the Chick-Fil-A (well, as much as you can be about a fast food chain) because their food is pretty good for what it is until last week. From a business perspective, I'm not really sure why they felt the need to make that announcement and then reaffirm it more than once.

They are also closed on Sunday because of the leadership's religious beliefs.

I'm glad that Chick fil a is going to have a business in Santa Barbara. That way I can boycott it locally.

No friend of mine will dine there. Hatefulness need not apply in Santa Barbara.

This would be a good place for a picket line.

Such intolerance from all you so-called tolerant people. I'll gladly eat there in support of people who stand by their non-hateful moral principles.

I second the boycott. Any business who spreads discrimination and unabashedly supports it is not where I will spend my money.

According to 286, calling out the intolerant on their intolerance makes the tolerant intolerant. Does your head hurt yet?

I agree with the boycott.

@286, perfect spin, doctor. The people who are opposed to intolerance are themselves intolerant because they do not embrace homophobia. No, liberals must embrace all opinions and beliefs because we are tolerant and inclusive.

While it is true that we are more tolerant and inclusive than right (wrong?) wingers, even for us there is a limit. But we appreciate attempts at spin, no matter how extreme.

@286 "non hateful principles" obviously you have not read the news lately..
