Wanted Santa Barbara Fugitive Found in Guatemala
Fugitive Jeffrey Reed Parish on Sheriff's Top 10 most wanted, arrested in Panajachel Guatemala by FBI
agents and Guatemalan authorities
In June of last year the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office released information on wanted fugitive Jeffrey
Reed Parish, who is accused of molesting a 4 year old female child in Carpinteria in 1994. Since that
time the case has remained open and Parish was recently added to the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office
Webpage "Most Wanted" list.

Parish's case was also referred to the FBI for assistance as it was believed that immediately after his
arrest Parish had fled the country, possibly to Mexico, where he spent a few months out of the year
visiting.
In early 2011, the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office Felony Fugitive Unit and agents with the FBI began
reexamining Parish's case. Information was developed recently that lead investigators to a small town
in Guatemala, Panajachel, where it was believed that Parish was residing. Information was passed on to
FBI agents in that region who coordinated with the Guatemalan authorities. Parish was located and
arrested without incident. Parish was living under the name "Blake."
Parish, a United States Citizen, was ordered deported immediately by the Guatemalan Government. The
Santa Barbara Sheriff's Felony Fugitive Unit and the agents with the FBI office traveled to Guatemala and
escorted Parish back to the United States where he was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on his
outstanding felony warrant. Parish remains in custody without bail.
The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office believes that during Parish's time in Santa Barbara County in the early
90s, Parish may have molested other victims before his arrest and subsequent flight from justice. If you
have any information on other individuals who may have been victims of Parish contact the Sheriff's
Department immediately at 805-681-4150.
Please see the attached news release and two photos of Mr. Parish. One photo is from his 1994
booking, and the other from his booking after extradition from Guatemala.
